GOSSIP, NEWS, OR COMMUNICATION?

If I leave this course with one concept it will be that communication comes in every shape, size and form .

Today anyone has the power to broadcast their opinions to the world whether the world is ready for their big debut or not just like me now as I begin my blog! I now have the power to communicate ANYTHING!

Celebrity gossip blogs such as that of Perez Hilton have almost surpassed the popularity of news stations. Yes, many of the things said aren't true but when was the media truthful? did we not learn in class that every person tells lies everyday regardless of what they are communicating on?
When typing in Lindsay Lohan into Google Images the other day the first photo that appeared was this one implying how "Good her breast implants look" while the photo below it was the same from a different angle stating she "looked horrible, and was struggling with anorexia"

This is an example of how communicating can be both positive, negative, decietful and truthful. Trivial things like celebrity gossip can be false whereas top newstories can too. Nobody said communicating a message had to be truthful... in the end we are all only interested in the story.
